Loreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner Review

Loreal Paris Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner

 Price: $8.99

Color: Black

This thick mini eyeliner packs a big black punch!  I ran across it in the store one day and decided to give it a shot since I don't have a favorite black eyeliner.  On a scale of 1 to 10 {1 being terrible}, I would give it a 7 and here's why:

Pros

- True to color

- Small enough to travel in my kit yet thick enough to allow multiple uses

- Can also double as a base {will crease}

- Smooth application

- Great for smudged looks and avant guard looks

Con's

- Not long lasting

- Is not smudge proof

- Not waterproof

Overall I'm not disappointed in this purchase and will definitely continue to use it.  I figured out how to keep it from smudging as fast by setting it with black eye shadow.  You can purchase the eyeliner at your local Ulta store.

Protect Your Lips with ARMOUR

Lucy ~ Gypsy ~ Gazarri's ~ Foxy ~ Candy
Price: $21

Armour Beauty Lip gloss was created by Theo Kogan  {singer/model/actor} who wanted to create a lip gloss that would stay on during her performances.  I believe she and her team have nailed it!  This lip gloss has staying power unlike any other lip gloss that I've used before.  It's like wearing liquid lipstick.  I say that because they are true to color, have a high shine, don't separate on the lips and they really do last.  I love the fact that the Armour Beauty takes time to make colors that are as eclectic as my personality can be and they smell good too.  You can pair them with your favorite lipstick or wear them alone.  Now the price of these babies is expensive but I will tell you that a little will go a looooong way so it will be worth the price.  No wonder they're my favorite gloss.

Avon Extra Lasting Foundation Review

On my continuous search for my "perfect" foundation I found Avon's newest foundation Extra Lasting Liquid Foundation.  I wanted to see if it would live up to it's name and knew that if anyone could give it a run for my money it would be yours truly!

Here are my thoughts:
Foundation Color: Caramel
Price: $12.50

I would have to say that I was very surprised with this foundation because I had already tried Avon's Ideal Flawless Foundation and didn't really like it.  There was some hesitation on my part but in the end I am glad that I tried it.  This foundation is great!  The coverage {medium to full} is good enough for me yet it keeps me from looking "fake".  It blends very well and allows me to build up or down when necessary.  The only downfall with this foundation is that with the SPF12 contained in the foundation, it makes it hard to match up your color selection.  I had to order 3 different colors in order to find a match.  The caramel color that I chose had an olive undertone which was not good so I kept having to adjust it with a powder.  Other than that, this is a really good foundation and the price is right!

Here is a visual of how I looked throughout the day

Foundation Finds

I am currently on the hunt for my "perfect" foundation. For the last couple of months I have been sampling and testing liquid and cream foundations. Some have met most of my expectations and some didn't. Here are my thoughts.

Avon Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Liquid foundation {SPF 15}
Foundation color: Caramel
Foundation price: $11

I liked the coverage of this foundation {sheer to medium} but found that with my oily skin I was having to touch up my face too often during the day. The foundation was slick on my skin so it would easily transfer onto my hands if I touched my face. Another thing that I liked about this foundation is that it was lightweight on my skin so it could be a foundation I would wear everyday. I think this foundation is better for combination skin and even dry skin. I would consider revisiting the Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Foundation in the winter months when it's not as hot outside.

Avon Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Creme-to-Powder Foundation {SPF 15}
Foundation color: caramel
Foundation price: $11

I also liked the coverage of this foundation {sheer to medium} but had to touch up my face just as often as the liquid foundation. This foundation is that is also lightweight and I could wear everyday but it's probably better for combination skin. I would consider revisiting the Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Foundation in the winter months.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation
Foundation color: 173 & 175
Foundation price: $42

I liked the coverage of this foundation {medium-full coverage}. It worked well with my oily skin without any problems however, it was and still is a challenge with matching my skintone. 173 is a little too yellow and 175 is too red for my complexion. I liked that this foundation is lightweight but can be a full coverage or it could be a foundation I would wear everyday if I blended it down. It's oil-free which is a plus but for the $42 price I would not consider making the purchase.

Polish Power

Back when I was living in Maryland I began to see this new nail polish but didn't really pay attention to it because I thought it was just another polish with fun colors that wouldn't last long on my nails. When I moved back to Houston I asked the sales associate about it because she knew about my obsession with nail polish. She didn't know much about it other than the fact that it was suppose to last longer than other nail polishes. I wasn't convinced UNTIL I went to a local hair show here in Galveston. "Venique" had a booth there so I rushed over and asked about it. The nail tech told me that the company had formulated the polish differently. No one else had done this in 20 years. She went on to say that the secret to the polish lasting longer was its base and top coat. They help the polish to last longer than the average nail polish. The deal of the day was 6 polishes for $20 so I was like "sign me up". I tried it out and was surprised that it did last longer than my OPI and ChinaGlaze nail polishes.

Venique is not sold in retail stores but is available in some salon locations. I would definitely carry the polishes at my salon just because they do last longer and they have awesome colors. They have about 50 or more shades and run about $8 (retail). I love the fact that the color you see on the bottle is what you get on your nails. With some Venique colors you only need one coat because the color is opaque and true to color.

When talking to the nail tech at the show I did ask her how it compares to the "shellac" system and she said that it's not damaging to the nails to remove but since it was a nail polish it wouldn't last as long as the shellac and is not as durable. She said that she uses Venique polishes on her clients in between shellac sessions to give their nail beds a break.

Yes I did test the Venique base and top coat with my OPI polish and the polish chipped the next day so they system works together and not with other nail polishes.

"Sally Girl" Eye Shadow Review

I've been to Sally Beauty several times and have seen these eye shadows but never had the desire to purchase them. It wasn't until I was surfing through YouTube videos where I ran across another MUA who had used them when I decided to give them a chance. For $.99 each these travel sized shadows are not half bad. You purchase them individually and then connect them {on the side} to make them in to palette. The pigmentation is not as great as some other eye shadows that I've used and tested but for $.99 they will do the job. These "Sally Girl" eye shadows come in many different shades so it's easy to customize your palette to fit your makeup needs. Visit www.sallybeauty.com to purchase this and other beauty products.
