BB Cream Clarification

BB Cream Clarification

BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base, blemish balm (apparently because of a trademark in Korea on the word "blemish"), and in Western markets, beauty balm. It is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia, although larger beauty brands are increasingly introducing BB creams to Western markets.
BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.

I've come to take a liking to BB Creams.  I believe that they are a quick and easy way to create an "on the go" look.  Sometimes in life we just don't have enough time to put on every piece of makeup in our bag so BB Creams allow you to combine products without feeling like you've cheated your look.  It takes less than 3 minutes to apply and seems to last all day.  The downfall with BB Creams is that they only come in a limited amount of shades.  My suggestions would be to get samples from your favorite beauty counter so you're not playing the purchase and return game.  Who has that kind of time and money?

BB Cream: Maybelline {Medium Deep & Deep}
Coverage: Sheer to Medium
Finish: Dewy

Budget Conscious Brush Buys

Budget Conscious Brush Buys

Makeup is way of creating art. Artist need the right tools and/or brushes to create so I've compiled a list of my makeup brushes that can help you create your artistic look but won't break the bank.

  1. Real Techniques Expert Face Brush: Used to apply liquid and cream foundations. This brush offers an airbrush-like finish to the skin using a buffing technique.
  2. MAC Cosmetics 208 Angled Brow Brush: Used to apply brow powders or creams.  This brush gives you a precise application when you're trying to enhance your brows.
  3. Crown Brush Pro Blending Brush: Used to blend liquids, creams, and powders.  This brush is a more stiff brush which allows for really blending down heavy creams and harsh lines where eye shadow was placed.  It is also a great tool to create a heavier blended eye shadow application.
  4. Crown Brush Tapered Concealer Brush: Used to apply liquid and cream concealers.  This brush is flat so it will pick up the product and place it where you need to.  It's round shape allows you to move around the face with ease to get in to every nook and cranny.
  5. Crown Brush Blending Crease Brush: Used to softly apply eye shadow or blend away harsh lines. It can also blend away liquid or cream products as well.  This is by far one of the most important brushes you'll ever need.  It has endless possibilities.
  6. Crown Brush Powder Brush: Used to apply powder foundation, setting powder or blush.  This fluffy round brush allows you to softly apply powder products to the face and or body area.
I hope this helps you when you head to the store or go online to purchase your next brush.
 Happy painting!

It's that time of year again. 2014 has quickly rolled in and now it's time to do a recap on my favorite beauty things from last year.  I hope you enjoy these products as much as I have (am)!

1. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer - for daily moisturizing before applying makeup.
2. The Roots Virgin Lacquer Gel Pomade - to lay my curly edges down without hardness or flakiness.
3. Milani Baked Blush " Terra Sole" {no longer available} - adds a hint of brown red color to my cheeks that blends perfectly.
4. CoverGirl Queen Collection 3 in 1 Foundation "Golden Honey" - medium to full coverage liquid foundation that doesn't feel heavy.
5. Real Techniques Buffing Brush - the best foundation brush ever!!!
6. Crown Brush Powder Brush - my "go to" all over powder brush.
7. Paul Mitchell Quick Slip - helps to condition my hair and help it to dry faster.
8. Xtreme Lashes Long Lasting Brow Pen - add definition to my brows.
9. Mary Kay at Play Baked Eye Shadow Trio's - I like the convenience of having 3 complimentary shadows in one set and they are pigmented.
10. Makeup Forever Holodiam Powder #302 {pro artist item} - the best glitter/pigment combination EVER!!!
11. LAgirl Pro Concealer "Almond" and "Classic Ivory" - medium to full coverage concealer that compares to MAC select cover up concealer for less money. I use it 6 days a week!!
12. Xtreme Lashes Glideliner Eye Pencil "Xtreme Black" - the softest eyeliner I've ever used and it is truly the blackest-black color.
13. Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner "Cinnabar" - my "go to" eyebrow pencil since I can never seem to find a good brow pencil.
14. Urban Decay Naked Skin "9.0" - ultra smooth lightweight foundation with sheer to medium coverage.
15. NYX Studio Liquid Liner "Extreme Blue" - I love the opaque color payoff this offers for my winged liner looks.
16. Elizabeth Mott "It's So Big" Volumizing Mascara - the brush is small enough for my eyes and the mascara formula is a bit thicker but not hard.
17. Crown Brush Pro Blending Crease Brush - I'm always blending something :D
18. Essie Nail Polish "Butler Please" - who doesn't LOVE Essie? I love their eclectic color selection to match my eclectic personality.
19. Armour Beauty Lipgloss - haven't found a color I don't like and nothing compares. It's my all time favorite lipgloss collection!!!
20. Bath & Body Works Shower Gel "White Citrus" - with my fragrant allergies it's hard to find unscented products to shower with. This shower gel is easy on my allergies and allows me smell good at the same time.
21. Xtreme Lash Extensions - Once I took the class I was hooked. I love the way they open up the eye. Lash extensions give woman the option to have fuller volumous lashes without compromising their current lashes. I offer this service in the Baltimore and Houston areas.
